8hr Pre-Assignment Training

A general introductory course. You must complete this course and submit a copy of the certificate issued to you with your security guard application. Learn More

16hr On-The-Job Training

A course relevant to the duties of guards, requirements of the work site, and the needs of the employer. You must complete this training within 90 days of employment as a security guard. Learn More

8hr Annual In-Service Training

This course must be completed each calendar year you hold a security guard registration. Your registration is issued for two years, therefore, you must complete two 8 Hour Annual In-Service training courses within your registration effective and expiration dates to be eligible for renewal. About Your Instructor

Your director/instructor has over thirty years of law enforcement experience. He was member of the New York City Police Department and Nassau County, NY Police Department and is retired as a detective from the Nassau County Police Department Major Case Bureau. He is a Certified Fraud Examiner and a Certified Financial Crime Investigator.

Becoming a Security Guard

All security guards are required to complete an 8 Hour Pre-Assignment Training Course prior to applying to the Department of State for a Security Guard Registration Card. That course must be followed by a 16-Hour On-the-Job Training Course for Security Guards within 90 days of initial employment as a security guard. Guards also must complete an 8-Hour Annual In-service Training Course for Security Guards every year.
